Assistant Site Superintendent

Typical Responsibilities
• Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate daily operations
• Plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones and monitor progress
• Supervise and co-ordinate activities of subcontractors
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, field drawings and plans
• Manage project budgets
• Establish and implement policies and procedures for quality control
• Hire and supervise staff
• Prepare required reports
• Develop and implement quality control programs
• Oversee the analysis of data and information

Requirements
• Completion of post-secondary studies in construction, building technology, engineering or a similar field
• National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) Certification
• 1-3 years Canadian commercial construction experience
• Previous experience working on a military base is considered an asset
• Experience managing projects in excess of $15 million
• Previous experience overseeing construction job sites
• Must possess strong communication skills, both verbally and written
• Ability to build and foster positive, productive and long lasting relationships
• Highly organized and able to prioritize responsibilities
• Results orientated with the ability to interpret and effectively manage multiple and competing priorities and timelines
• Proficient in all Microsoft Office tools, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Projects
• Valid Driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Government of Canada Security Clearance – Reliability Level

Senior Estimator

Typical Responsibilities:
• Prepare and/or coordinate the preparation of full cost estimates on conceptual, design-build or general tender work
• Prepare materials, labour and equipment cost estimations necessary to successfully carry out a construction project according to proposals, plans, estimates and specifications
• Prepare and maintain a list of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors
• Advise on proposal procedures to follow
• Study and analyze proposals received
• Recommend/reject proposals and negotiate contracts
• Establish unit costs, labour rates, productivity factors and location impacts
• Evaluate and recommend allowances for indirect costs, design unknowns, escalation and contingency
• Present estimates and conduct review meetings with clients
• Participate and coordinate company risk and opportunity evaluation with clients
• Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate
• Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work
• Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including current (accurate) information on prices from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, etc
• Support other department personnel as required which may include preparing estimates for other disciplines
• Review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials
• Effectively determine the bid strategies required for the company to be successful
• Assist corporate and project management teams to determine what types of projects to bid on
• Review all final estimate packages to ensure accuracy and completeness, prior to formal quotation
• Participate in presentations to management and clients. May be responsible for "closing the sale"
• Provide technical assistance in negotiating contracts, change orders, etc. as required
• May assist in the preparation of studies, materials and methods, recommendations, and cost estimates as required
• Various other duties as required

Requirements:
• Post-secondary diploma in a related field would be considered an asset
• Commercial construction experience would be considered an asset
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a cost estimation role
• Must possess strong communication skills, both verbally and written
• Ability to read and interpret building specifications, blueprints and as-builts
• Must possess the mathematical and analytical skills necessary to develop material estimates, labour estimate and interpret job costing reports
• Ability to use cost-estimating software to prepare coat quotes and bids
• Demonstrated ability to train, coach, motivate evaluate and improve others performance
• Ability to build and foster positive, productive and long lasting relationships with coworkers, clients, sub-contractors, suppliers and vendors
• Results orientated with the ability to interpret and effectively manage multiple and competing priorities and timelines
• Proven ability to take initiative and confirm the accuracy of information that is sent and received
• Possess highly effective negotiation, diplomatic and conflict resolution skills
• Superb facilitation of meetings, feedback sessions and briefing in order to create consensus among stakeholders
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Project

Site Safety Officer

Job Purpose:
The Site Safety Officer is responsible for overall safety at the site and ensuring staff is compliant with AMAN’s Safety Program and any other applicable safety regulations.

Responsibilities:
• Serve as a liaison between Management and field employees by formulating and suggesting work safety standards, and enforcing OH&S legislation
and company safety policies
• Conduct training and orientation sessions for new hires and sub-contractors
• Perform tool box meetings, site inspections, and ensure that any deficiencies or substandard conditions are allocated to the appropriate person(s) and corrective actions have been implemented in a timely manner
• Conduct investigations, and prepare reports on all health and safety incidences, near misses, discriminatory actions and other related workplace concerns
• Monitor the Modified Work Program for AMAN employees
• Ensure an adequate supply of appropriate PPE equipment is onsite and available at all times
• Actively participate in review of Job Hazard Assessments, Safe Work Practices, Safe Job Procedures and COR Audit
• Act as a leader of safety culture and build professional relationships with all key stakeholders, both internal and external
• Provide advice and counsel to line managers and field employees
• Organize and provide monthly safety report to Safety File Folder on a timely basis
• Monitor the Emergency Response Plan for quality and effectiveness
• Assist team members in completing tasks as when required

Qualifications:
• Minimum of 2 years of progressive work experience in safety
• Must have a valid Internal Auditor Certification
• Possess a valid Standard First Aid Level C with AED or higher
• Experience in the commercial construction is an asset
• National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certification is considered an asset
• Knowledgeable in all local, provincial and federal compliance regulations
• Possess a valid and clean driver’s license
• Holds strong communication skills, both verbally and written
• Highly organized and able to prioritize responsibilities

Labourer

Responsibilities:
• Clean and prepare the job site
• Take direction and work independently to complete assigned tasks
• Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials
• Operate jackhammers and drills
• Load, unload and identify building materials, machinery or tools, distributing them to the appropriate locations
• Measure, mark, record openings or distance to layout areas where construction work will be performed
• Provide assistance to carpenters as required
• Direct traffic at or near construction site
• Various other duties as required

Qualifications:
• Minimum 2 years of construction experience
• CSA approved steel toe boots
• Own transportation
• Safety tickets would be considered an asset (Zoom Boom, Skid Steer, First Aid, etc.)
